Before the Montreal Canadiens players jumped on the ice at the Bell Sports Complex in Laval, Sami Niku and Cedric Paquette skated with a fitness trainer, Marc Bergevin cut four players and Jake Allen showed up at least 30 minutes before his teammates.

That said, where were Carey Price and Mike Hoffman? Price, I imagine, is still at home to fully recover from his virus. In the case of Hoffman, he is supposed to skate this week, but no specific day has been scheduled. I don't know about you, but for me, the Carey Price issue is making my anxiety increase day after day.

On the ice, here are the combinations concocted by Dominique Ducharme, which look quite a bit like the picture aimed for the opening of the campaign:

Toffoli - Suzuki - Caufield
Drouin - Dvorak - Anderson
Armia - Evans - Gallagher
Perreault - Poehling - Belzile/Ylönen

Arpon Basu reported that Artturi Lehkonen was skating, but he didn't seem to be paired with any combinations. Weird!

Romanov - Petry
Chiarot - Savard
Kulak - Wideman - Guhle (rotating)

Also, Joel Edmundson still hasn't joined the team...

Bottom line: Jesse Ylonen and Alex Belzile were rotating, as were Brett Kulak, Chris Wideman and Kaiden Guhle. Alexander Romanov was on Jeff Petry's left, while David Savard was with Ben Chiarot instead of the young Guhle. Could this indicate a future demotion for the CH's first pick in 2020?
