You are all familiar with the kind of season Montreal Canadiens forward Josh Anderson has had so far, having scored no goals in his first 24 games before scoring six in nine games.

He was finally having a great streak and it was beautiful to see. It was a very good thing for Martin St-Louis, Kent Hughes, and the CH.

Season over for Josh Anderson?

Unfortunately, this beautiful streak may have come to a very abrupt and unexpected end for him.

Last night against the Dallas Stars, Anderson retreated to his team's locker room in severe pain and never returned afterwards.

Even more worrying. He was unable to put any weight on his leg.

A Worrisome Prediction

It's very popular with NFL players, but it's also starting in the NHL. There are doctors on the web who, with the information and images they have at hand, try to guess the injuries suffered by players.

This is the case with Dr. Harjas Grewal, who rarely gets it wrong by the way.

And here is his opinion on the injury suffered by Anderson. Ouch.

« Hockey gear obscures the fine detail but concerns are a torn ACL (6+ months), MCL (depends on grade) and/or meniscus (4-6 weeks if trimmed, 4+ months if repaired) along with bone bruise for Josh Anderson

Likely an update tomorrow after MRI.»

So he's talking here probably about an absence of 4 to 6 months and more, with a slim possibility that it's "only" 4 to 6 weeks if it's cut, but that would have an impact on Anderson's knee in the long term, with risks of recurrence. Which is really not ideal for him.

Let's hope he's wrong, but unfortunately expect bad news for Andy.
