In the last few minutes, thanks to the work of the excellent TVA Sports journalist, Nicolas Cloutier, we learned about the departure of an important member from the Montreal Canadiens.

Matt Turek's Departure from the Habs

Furthermore, a significant departure from the amateur recruitment department went under the radar in recent months.

Ontario scout Matt Turek no longer works for the Canadiens, the organization confirmed. Turek is known, among other things, for having played a vital role in hiring defenseman Arber Xhekaj, a revelation for the Canadiens last season as an undrafted player.

The CH thus loses a strong hockey mind.

We can indeed thank Turek for the acquisition of Arber Xhekaj.

Why did he leave? As Nicolas Cloutier aptly explains, Turek was promoted to interim general manager of the Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL. (and he excels in his role)

In short, he was in a conflict of interest position, and the NHL rules obliged him to leave his position with the Montreal Canadiens.

He was replaced by Joey Tenute.

Also, note that Cloutier was indeed able to confirm the rumor regarding the hiring of Fernando Pisani. Solid!
