In his most recent article, journalist Arpon Basu, who covers the Montreal Canadiens for The Athletic, has seemingly confirmed a rumor that has been circulating a lot over the past few months.

The New Jersey Devils have seriously considered a trade for Josh Anderson.

"I know that the New Jersey Devils showed interest in Anderson last season, and I don't know if that's changed with the acquisition of Timo Meier, but they can serve as an example of how a trade involving Josh Anderson might work."

There you have it!

We also learn that the Devils are very determined to be serious Stanley Cup contenders this season, and they will not hesitate to trade young players and prospects who do not fit into their competitive window.

Moreover, they clearly recognize Anderson's value.

Remember during the 2021 playoffs, especially against the Toronto Maple Leafs. It was amazing how often the Leafs players turned over the puck because they hurried their plays when Anderson was coming in like a train.

They were sick of getting hit by him.

He's the kind of player who could really help a team like the Devils, and they know it.

A trade to watch between the Canadiens and the Devils?

In any case, it's a file to keep an eye on and certainly information to keep in mind for the coming weeks.

Anderson, 29 years old, is a forward who stands at 6 feet 3 inches and weighs 220 pounds. He has recorded:

- 32 points in 69 games in 2021-22

- 32 points in 69 games in 2022-23

He earns $5.5 million per season until 2027.
