Forward Sven Baertschi announces his retirement suddenly
In the last few seconds, former 1st-round pick of the Calgary Flames, 13th overall in 2011, Sven Baertschi, announced his retirement.
Baertschi, now 30 years old, collected 28 points in 44 games and 46 points in 43 games in his last two seasons in the AHL.
Throughout his NHL career, he amassed 138 points, including 66 goals, in 292 games. Unfortunately, injuries greatly affected his performance, especially towards the end of his career.
We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
The Swiss forward is indeed retiring from professional hockey. He still had two seasons remaining on his contract.
Was there the night in Vegas Canucks Sven Baertschi's career took a turn for the worse. Suffered a concussion on a needless headshot. Was never the same again.
Sounds like Sven Baertschi has retired from pro hockey. Battled concussions during his time with the Canucks.
