In major hockey news, world-renowned apparel manufacturer Nike has not submitted a bid to redesign National Hockey League jerseys.

A big change in the league

Adidas is leaving after this season and it will now be Fanatics that will make the famous jerseys.

But whether it's Nike, Adidas or Fanatics, all the jerseys and uniforms of the 31 NHL teams are made in Granby and Saint-Hyacinthe by Vêtements SP. Yes, a local company and that's great news.

On the other hand, if we come back to Nike, we must admit that it's quite a slap in the face for Commissioner Gary Bettman. Fans are furious that Fanatics was chosen, because of the poor quality of the products for the last few years. It seemed to be the last choice of the NHL, but it was probably also their only choice.

Bettman probably thought he could fall back on Nike, but no.

Nike has announced that it wants to move away from hockey, the company will have had its heyday in the days of Sergei Fedorov of the Detroit Red Wings, who gracefully wore the little Nike hook.

Nike has turned its back on Bettman and the NHL, that says a lot.

That said, the Quebec-based company "Vêtements SP", celebrating its 24th anniversary, is preparing for the rise of robotization in the textile industry. That's great news in these economic times.
