It's now official, NHL players will be at the Beijing Olympics from February 5 to 20 and they will be trying to win a gold medal for the first time since 2014. Need I remind you that National Hockey League players did not compete in the Olympics in PyeongChang in 2018?
Isn't it time to speculate on the potential roster that Canada will build to win the gold medal? Because, on paper, Canada is stronger than any other nation, so it's always about the gold medal when we talk about this country.
Anyway, this is all to say that a group of writers who cover the NHL, Sean Gentille, Dom Luszczyszyn and Corey Pronman, have laid out the lists of the top five nations (Canada, USA, Sweden, Russia and Finland). Let's forget about the other countries for now.
Here is Canada's projected lineup, according to these reporters:
Offense:
Huberdeau - McDavid - MacKinnon
Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Barzal - Point - Stone
Tavares - O'Reilly - Marner
Defence:
Chychrun - Makar
Theodore - Pietrangelo
Pelech - Ekblad
In the net:
Price - Fleury - Binnington
Extras:
Couturier - Scheifele - Rielly - Hamilton
We can debate under the comments section, this is the perfect place. Note that these are not our picks, but those of the NHL.com reporters.
