At the beginning of the season, many CH fans were salivating over the upcoming trade deadline. They saw Kent Hughes selling big with Sean Monahan, Evgeny Dadonov, Jonathan Drouin, Mike Hoffman, Joel Armia and even Joel Edmundson.

With less than two weeks to go until March 3rd, things have drastically changed, and a big statement from Kent Hughes just proved it.

He spoke to Sportsnet's Jeff Marek in an interview and made a disappointing statement. The GM likes the current mix of veterans and youngsters.

This is one of the first times in several months that Hughes has broken his silence about the deadline.

"Marek at intermission says he expects the Tricolore to be quiet at the deadline, Kent Hughes likes the veterans they have and feels like they have the right mix. He wants the veterans to help the young players along the way."

Of all the players listed above, it seems like the only one who could leave is, oddly enough, Evgeny Dadonov.

According to a scout, the latter could very well be the plan B, or even C, of some formations when the time starts to run out, at 2:55 pm on March 3. Pierre LeBrun also said the same thing according to the information he received.

So don't expect much between now and March 3rd for the CH. Unless Kent Hughes is trying to create a diversion here, which would be brilliant on his part.
