The information caused a lot of reaction, but Chris Johnston (TSN) has just clarified everything.
According to multiple insiders, including Andy Strickland, forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi has signed an eight-year deal, worth $4.4 million per season, with the Carolina Hurricanes.
We are talking here about a contract of 35.2 million, in total.
In 54 games this season, KK has tallied 23 points, including 11 goals, on the Hurricanes' fourth line.
Johnston, for his part, brings a very important piece of information. Yes Kotkaniemi will sign an eight-year contract in Carolina, but precisely, since it's an eight-year deal, it means that the deal cannot officially be announced before the trade deadline of March 21.
So expect it to be official in 9 or 10 days.
