Kent Hughes Reveals Where the Canadiens Newest Acquisition Will Play
As we reported earlier today, the Montreal Canadiens announced a minor trade this Thursday.
Kent Hughes acquired forward Filip Cederqvist from the Buffalo Sabres in return for future considerations.
Here are some interesting information about him.
«I just spoke with Émile Poirier, who played with Filip Cederqvist 2 years ago in Sweden.
"He was excellent with us. Big power forward. Good in both ends of the ice. I really thought he would one day play in the NHL. Still young. You never know!"
That year, Cederqvist was the second highest scorer for Djugardens with 32 points in 49 games.
Émile added this:
"He played with Marcus Sorensen and I think that helped him a lot too. I haven't seen him play in the AHL, so it's hard for me to know if he really had a chance."»
- Via Anthony Martineau, from TVA Sports
This really helps to get to know him better! Solid work!
In short, regarding Cederqvist and following his acquisition, the CH made an unsurprising decision.
The CH announces that Cederqvist will report to the Laval Rocket!
Not surprising, but now officially official.
«The Canadiens' new acquisition Filip Cederqvist will report to the Laval Rocket - a reinforcement move given the series of long-term injuries currently affecting the Rocket.» - Via Priyanta Emrith
The 23-year-old Swedish left winger, 6 feet 3 inches and 208 pounds, will therefore come to help JF Houle's team.
He has 24 points in 74 AHL games.
