It's rare that you see this, but Hughes made a point of talking about the many trade rumors that are floating around, including Josh Anderson, Sean Monahan and Joel Edmundson.
The GM even admitted to meeting with two of his team's players in connection with the trade deadline, which is generating its share of speculation.
The two players in question? Joel Edmundson and Josh Anderson.
He also spoke to Sean Monahan at the beginning of the season.
That says a lot about the type of general manager Kent Hughes is. He communicates brilliantly with his players and it's certainly appreciated by them.
It's amazing when you think about it. Hughes heard trade rumors on TV, and his immediate reflex was to call the players involved into his office, to communicate with them. Good for him!
Hughes did the same thing last season with Ben Chiarot, but in that case, he clearly told Chiarot that he was going to be traded.
As for Edmundson and Anderson, Hughes would have told them that the door is open to trade them, if he ever gets the right offer.
However, Hughes feels under no obligation to trade them, unlike Chiarot last season (and that's what he told them).
So we understand that Edmundson and Anderson are available on the trade market, Hughes is listening to the calls of other general managers, but it takes the right offer.
Edmundson, 29, has 1 goal and 5 assists in 35 games this season.
Anderson, 28, has 12 goals and 3 assists in 43 games this season.
