Not only is he a top prospect, but his offensive prowess has been witnessed by numerous hockey fans in Quebec through social media, as shown in this video:
It's worth recalling that Hutson represented the United States in the last World Championship last May, after a spectacular debut season with the Boston University in the NCAA. During that season, he scored 48 points, including 15 goals in 39 games.
But what's also impressive about the young man is a statistic shared by Marc-Olivier Beaudoin through his Twitter account, or X, let's just say I'm still having trouble getting used to it.
Since the 2012-2013 lockout, the Canadiens' young prospect leads in points for a defenseman in the NCAA in a season before the age of 19.
Quite impressive!
He's ahead of players like Zach Werenski and Adam Fox, two of the NHL's best defensemen, as well as a certain Luke Hughes, who is poised for a bright future with the New Jersey Devils.
Of course, it's just one statistic among many, but there's reason to be hopeful about the young American defenseman, who could become, alongside David Reinbacher, one of the Canadiens' best defensive pairs and even one of the NHL's best in the coming years.
But before we declare victory, we'll have to wait and see Lane Hutson in action wearing the Canadiens uniform during training before jumping to conclusions. Nevertheless, it must be admitted that it's very promising.
