Last-minute development regarding the future of Samuel Montembeault with the Canadiens
In the last few minutes, via journalist Marc Antoine Godin, we've had a development regarding the negotiations between Samuel Montembeault and the Montreal Canadiens.
"Eager to see how the poker game between Samuel Montembeault and the Canadiens will evolve. There are no negotiations at the moment, but if it were to spill into the season and Montembeault continued his positive trajectory, the bill would not be the same by Christmas."
So there are absolutely no negotiations at the moment, which is surprising under the circumstances.
In your opinion, should Kent Hughes hurry up and sign Montembeault before the price goes up this season? Or do you believe he's doing well to wait?
Clearly, this will be a defining season in Montembeault's career. Either he will prove to everyone that he is a number one NHL goaltender, or he will further establish himself as a solid backup and will prompt his bosses to find another goaltender for the future (if he has a lesser season).
We are really looking forward to seeing him play, but we have confidence in him!
Let's remember that there is currently a logjam in front of the Habs' net, especially since the acquisition of Casey DeSmith.
