MUST SEE: Michkov displays disrespectful actions towards his own teammates, and it's causing a big reaction
Many were disappointed to see the Canadiens opt for defenseman David Reinbacher over the young and highly talented forward, Matvei Michkov. Nevertheless, the player who was considered the 2nd best raw talent of this draft, behind Connor Bedard, was ultimately picked 7th. Thus, five teams passed on the young player.
If the political situation in Russia was a concerning factor, there was certainly something else that scared teams off. In a recent column with Martin Lemay on BPM Sports radio, Mathias Brunet may have found the reason why so many teams backed off.
According to the journalist, who has sources among players in Russia who know the now Flyers' prospect, Michkov is a most unpleasant teammate. In addition to being self-centered, he would be very aggressive with other members of his team.
Will he be nice? Will he continue to kick his teammates when they are on the ground in the locker room? Will he trip his teammates during practice? Will he stick his stick into his goalie's chest protector during practice? - Mathias Brunet
This is not the first time we've heard such comments about him, and it wouldn't be surprising if more information emerges during the campaign. Speaking of the current season, his first three KHL preseason games were not successful. Brunet mentions he only played five minutes in the first, three in the second, and was scratched from the last game's lineup.
The journalist concludes on a more positive note, saying that the young Russian still has plenty of time to change. However, one shouldn't expect a drastic change in the young man's attitude, as he seems to have been like this for a very long time...
A story to follow!
