The least that can be said is that the selection of Filip Mesar in the 1st round of the NHL draft by the Montreal Canadiens is not aging very well.

Here's a statement that speaks volumes.

I got Jean-François Houle to talk about Filip Mesar's case as to whether he's in the same place as last year with two options; the AHL or the OHL.

«He may be at the same level. No one is assured of making the team here. Yes, we have to develop, but we also have to put the young ones in the right chairs. The player needs the desired ice time to be able to improve.»

Wow! So, he hasn't even progressed a little in a year?

It really looks like he will be cut from the Laval Rocket camp, and that's where things might go sour in this file.

Let's remember that Mesar absolutely did not want to go to the juniors last year, but he swallowed the pill and finally went there (reluctantly).

What will happen if he is asked to go to the OHL again this season, to play for a team that is said to have a toxic atmosphere by many?

Let's also remember that Mesar would make a lot more money in Europe than in the OHL. He is leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table by going to play junior.

So this is a big file to follow. What will happen if Mesar is indeed cut from the Rocket? Will the CH throw in the towel in his case? That would be very bad.

Is Mesar going to turn his back on the Montreal Canadiens and go back to Europe, home, to do his own thing?

To be continued...

So far, what a bad selection! Ouch.
