At a press conference in the last few seconds, Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis announced an important decision concerning Jake Allen.
Despite his recent performances and Sam Montembeault's success this season, it is Jake Allen who will be in net tomorrow against the San Jose Sharks.
A very surprising decision, according to many analysts.
St-Louis sends a clear message
And just to put an end to the controversies surrounding the team's goaltenders, St-Louis made a major and very clear statement:
Jake Allen will be the starting goalie against the Sharks.
"Jake is our number one, but last week Sam deserved to get two starts in a row" - Martin St-Louis - Reported by J-F Chaumont
There you have it. There is absolutely no doubt about it, Allen is still the Habs' #1 goalie, and that's not going to change. So expect him to continue to get the majority of the starts.
Allen, 32, has a 6-7-0 record this season, a 3.61 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage.
Montembeault, 26, is 5-2-1 this season with a goals-against-average of 2.48 and a 0.924 GAA (top-5 in the NHL)
More details to follow.
