Who will be the number one goaltender for this team when it's ready to compete for the Stanley Cup?
What's the future of the Montreal Canadiens in the net?
Samuel Montembeault is a solid candidate, but he will already be 28 years old next year.
However, there is another serious contender for this position, and according to many, he is the future goaltender for the CH. We're talking about Jacob Fowler.
After literally tearing it up in the USHL, Fowler's success is now translating directly to the NCAA, which is fantastic news (NCAA is a much more powerful league).
In fact, in his rookie season, in his first month, Jacob Fowler has already been named the goaltender of the month in his conference with very impressive numbers.
He has played all 6 games for his team, maintaining a record of 5-1-0, a 2.15 goals-against average, and a .919 save percentage.
He's following in the footsteps of a certain Thatcher Demko at Boston College and could become a steal in the draft if he keeps up this performance.
Note that Demko was an NCAA recruit in 2013-14 and became the Canucks' goaltender more regularly in 2019.
Fowler still has plenty of time, so!
