Elliotte Friedman even confirmed that Kent Hughes made direct inquiries this summer to try to acquire Puljujarvi, but the price was too high.
This famous price had never been revealed publicly, until today.
Here's what Kent Hughes was asked in exchange for Puljujarvi
As my colleague Vincent Fournier mentions, for their former 4th overall pick, the Edmonton Oilers are asking for: a second round pick.
So the price is pretty high, and he hasn't moved since this summer, despite his recent production as well as his recent comments. (he has definitely questioned himself)
Still according to Friedman, from Sportsnet, GM Ken Holland is still asking, as of today, for a second round pick.
According to many experts, he will never get that for Puljujarvi. Even if he is a very talented player with high potential, a third or fourth round pick seems much more reasonable.
What the Oilers asked from Kent Hughes:
TO MONTREAL - Jesse Puljujarvi
TO EDMONTON - Second round pick.
What we suggest:
To Montreal - Jesse Puljujarvi
To EDMONTON - Early fourth-round pick.
Would you do it? Do you still believe in this kid?
Puljujarvi, 24, is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound winger. He had 14 goals and 36 points (in 65 games) last season and has six points this season. He has been a standout alongside Patrik Laine and Sebastian Aho.
