With the Montreal Canadiens' defensive squad in place yesterday, and during the entirety of the preseason games, it is understandable that the big man is looking to strengthen it for the upcoming schedule. The absence of Shea Weber moves the pieces and some of them are no longer in their seats.
We can also add the temporary absence of Joel Edmundson... Although this file is becoming more and more nebulous. Edmundson's absence will hurt the group SO much. Imagine if Ben Chiarot or Jeff Petry were to get injured early in the season! OUCH!
Anyway, during a segment on 91.9 Sports, Eric Engels spoke about the Canadiens' porous defense: "I can tell you now that Marc Bergevin is looking for another defenseman. I really think he's looking for another defenseman..."
Is this information or just Engels' speculation? No idea! But one thing is for sure, the Tricolore doesn't really trust Chris Wideman and Sami Niku, who is on the sidelines right now. Marc Bergevin has to solidify this one, especially if Carey Price is out for a long time.
