With just a few days to go before the season starts, combinations are taking shape in all directions for the Montreal Canadiens. The coaching staff has specific expectations and roles for their players.
Many were the questions about which players would be used on the power play. The first line of the five-man attack includes Tyler Toffoli, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Brendan Gallagher and Jeff Petry.
For now, this is considered the first unit, pending Mike Hoffman's arrival at his position on the right side.
The second unit is not at all awkward either. It has a lot of talent, just like the first. It includes Jonathan Drouin, Christian Dvorak, Josh Anderson, Joel Armia and Chris Wideman who takes turns with Alexander Romanov.
Montreal's power play has been sorely lacking in conviction in the past, but with these units, the opposition's net should fill up considerably. Just imagine when Mike Hoffman will be in his position on the right flank on the first unit. Remember that Hoffman is a specialist with a man advantage on the ice.
