The soap opera between Jonathan Drouin and Canadiens fans has intensified over the past few days due to the forward's infamous delay to a team meeting.
After spending all of last Saturday's game on the bench against the Lightning, number 27 finally scored his first goal of the season at home in his team's win against the Lightning.
But let's just say that the reality is quite different and unless there is a surprising turn of events, the association between the CH and Jonathan Drouin will end after the current season.
We wonder if number 27 will be able to find a new team in the NHL next year because Kent Hughes was not able to trade him at the trade deadline.
However, as reported by Philippe Chênevert of Habsolumentfan.com, it would appear that there is indeed interest across the league for Drouin.
At least that's what Renaud Lavoie said during a recent appearance on BPM Sports.
Information from Renaud Lavoie, thanks to his contacts
"I can assure you that there is still interest in Jonathan Drouin in the NHL!
My contacts have all told me unanimously, there is a team that will make him an offer, if not two or three. He will sign for around $1M per year. It's the market that decides!" - Renaud Lavoie
This is good news for the Quebec forward who will no doubt have to find a new team for next season.
Although he only managed two goals this season, his talents as a playmaker are undeniable and he could be of great service to a team looking for depth in the attack.
For now, we don't know which team Drouin could end up with in 2023-2024, but one thing is for sure: at 28 years old, he still has a few good seasons left in him.
Would you re-sign him, for $2 million a season?
