Things continue to move within the Montreal Canadiens organization today. After having been emptied a bit following the opening of the NHL free agent market (Xavier Ouellet, J-S Dea and a few other players), the Laval Rocket continues to sign new players.
In the last few minutes, it was the turn of a former first round pick of the Calgary Flames to sign with the CH's club-school:
"The Laval Rocket announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-season contract (2022-2023 - AHL, two-way) with forward Emile Poirier." - Laval Rocket
A 27-year-old native of Montreal, Poirier was effectively the 22nd overall pick in the 2013 National Hockey League draft. In 2021-22, he played in the KHL (18 points in 39 games) and Sweden's top league (5 points in 11 games).
He's a solid acquisition for the Rocket. (Or for the Trois-Rivieres Lions) He's got talent and he's got the talent to produce in bunch, especially for a 6-foot-5 forward.
More details to follow!
