Given the Christmas holiday, we weren't expecting any concrete updates regarding Patrik Laine's injury, but there is some news.
As noted by the HFTV team, while there hasn't been an official communication, it has been announced on the official site that Laine is officially listed as day-to-day.
This suggests a relatively short absence, at least if we rely on the day-to-day designation.
The Canadiens Confirm Patrik Laine's Injury and Provide an Official Designation
A strong observation from the HFTV team:
Laine is officially listed as "day-to-day" by the Montreal Canadiens. I guess we'll have to see in the next few days if they just pulled him out for that game to avoid him getting targeted, or if he really aggravated the shoulder. My guess unfortunately is the latter.
Let's recall that Laine left last night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
He finished the first period but never returned to his team's bench for the second period, and he wasn't seen for the rest of the game.
The Canadiens released an official statement during the game, saying Laine's return was questionable, which is quite rare.
TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie shared his thoughts this morning on what really happened in this situation.
We'll continue to monitor this situation closely for you!
Details to follow.
