To this date, the Canadiens have 14 picks for the next draft, which will take place at the Bell Centre. Interestingly, seven of these picks are in the first three rounds.
On that subject, Elliotte Friedman, in his most recent 32Thoughts, pulled out an impressive stat. According to Friedman's calculation, 20 of the first 76 picks in the 2022 draft will be announced by the Habs, the Arizona Coyotes and the Seattle Kraken.
"By my count, Arizona, Montreal and Seattle have 20 of the top 76 picks in the 2022 draft" - Elliotte Friedman
So that's 27% of the top 76 picks announced by those three teams. So don't be surprised if it seems like it's always the same people talking on the mic.
However, it is quite possible that the picture will change between now and the start of this auction. Kent Hughes, or the other two GMs, could very well trade a few picks to get ahead in the auction, to give it away in exchange for a hefty contract or to acquire a player.
