Today, at 40 years old, former Montreal Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec has just signed a new contract.
This is impressive and it's a signing that is currently eliciting many positive reactions.
Pleky will thus continue his professional playing career, a 24th season for him in 2023-24.
Over the past few hours, the Kladno Knights, a Czech professional team for which he has been playing since 2021, have indeed announced that they have signed a new contract with Plekanec.
He will be 41 at the start of next season.
It should be noted that Plekanec was their top scorer last season. He scored 16 goals and 33 assists, for a total harvest of 49 points in 52 games, almost one point per game.
'Negotiations took a little longer, but we are happy to have finally found an agreement and Pleky will play another season with our jersey on his back. We all know how important Pleky is to us.'
- Jiri Burger, general manager of the Kladno club
Please note that Plekanec will be playing on the same team as a certain Jaromir Jagr, who is still playing at 51 years old.
Plekanec has amassed 608 points (233 goals) in 1001 career games in the NHL. He played his last game with the Canadiens in the 2018-19 season.
