The Twitter account "Hockey Night in Montreal" is becoming increasingly popular among Canadiens fans and is experiencing impressive growth in popularity this summer, mainly due to its trade proposals.

Please note that these are not rumors; they are merely suggestions to stimulate interesting debates and engage fans.

Their followers love it.

Their latest proposal involves goalies. Here it is:

With nearly 1000 votes at the time of writing, 56% of fans would reject this trade.

In summary, it would bring Thatcher Demko and a 2024 3rd-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens.

In exchange, Kent Hughes would send Samuel Montembeault, a 2025 1st-round pick (from the Flames), and two 2nd-round picks (one in 2024 and the other in 2025) to Vancouver.

It would be a high price, but the Canadiens would have Carey Price's replacement.

Our Verdict

Personally, we would tend to trust Montembeault. The idea of bringing in Demko may be intriguing, but we would still keep Samuel.

A Demko-Montembeault tandem could be very strong for a long time.

And you, what do you think?

If we were in Kent Hughes' position, we would offer more: Jake Allen + the Flames' 2025 1st-round pick protected in the top 15 + a 2nd-round pick (in exchange for Demko only).

Demko, 27 years old, is one of the best goalies under 28 in the NHL. He stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 192 pounds, and he was the 36th overall pick in the 2014 draft.

We certainly remember the time he almost single-handedly eliminated the Vegas Golden Knights. He was absolutely outstanding in the playoffs.
