The Habs' 2021-2022 season is sure to go down in history for all sorts of reasons.

A catastrophic start to the season, the absence of Carey Price, the dismissals of Marc Bergevin and Dominique Ducharme, the hiring of Kent Hughes and Martin St-Louis, the trades of Toffoli and Chiarot, in short, there was no shortage of action this year.

And with all that, we almost forgot that the team is still without a captain since the beginning of the season because of Shea Weber's absence.

With the likelihood of Weber retiring, or the Habs trading his contract to another team, it's going to take a new captain on board.

Sportsnet's Eric Engels was on 91.9 Sports on Thursday and had an interesting comment about Nick Suzuki being seen internally as the next Habs captain.

The 22-year-old forward is establishing himself as the Canadiens' offensive leader and despite his young age, he is the logical choice for the organization.

Brendan Gallagher's name has often surfaced in the past as a future captain of the team, but we must admit that the number 11 has slowed down over the last two seasons and we don't know if he is part of Kent Hughes' and Jeff Gorton's long term plans.

There has also been talk of Joel Edmundson and Josh Anderson possibly getting the C on the jersey, but personally I can see Nick Suzuki taking over for Shea Weber. He is the best forward on the Habs and he has proven this year that when things get hot on a team, he is capable of pulling his weight despite everything.

Do you agree with Eric Engels who sees Suzuki becoming the next CH captain?

Thanks to Cimon Asselin at Habsolumentfan.com for the info.
