Acquisition to be announced by Hughes and the Habs? Joshua Roy would be leaving Montreal to join the Laval Rocket
We've seen a lot of action on the NHL waiver wire over the past few hours, notably involving the Montreal Canadiens, as Kent Hughes made two big decisions yesterday.
Colin White was claimed by the Habs.
Brandon Gignac was placed on waivers by the Habs.
Alex Barré-Boulet available: another acquisition for Hughes?
At the same time as Gignac, yesterday, another player who is better than Colin White was placed on waivers by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Many observers and experts, including Martin Lemay, have suggested that Kent Hughes might claim Barré-Boulet in order to send Joshua Roy to the Laval Rocket.
We're not a big fan of this idea, but know that it's being widely discussed, so don't be surprised if it happens.

Barré-Boulet, 26, is a Quebecer forward who has amassed 18 points in 68 NHL games (12 goals), but he is far too powerful for the AHL.
- 84 points in 69 games in 2022-23
- 63 points in 58 games in 2021-22
- 12 points in 10 games in 2020-21
- 56 points in 59 games in 2019-20
- 68 points in 74 games in 2018-19
Yes, he has been very good in the American League and he has been very consistent! He deserves a real chance in the NHL and he could be a great catch.
