Arber Xhekaj just sent a clear and direct message to Martin St-Louis and the coaching staff
What a beautiful day today for the Montreal Canadiens!
During the organization's traditional in-house skills competition, we had a great show.
The Sheriff stole the show
Not only did Xhekaj deliver an absolutely sensational performance in the hardest shot, but he also dazzled during the shootout with his superb dekes.
We found out he had very good hands!
After the event, Arber Xhekaj was very generous with his time and answered questions from journalists, and once again, he put on a good show.
He notably sent a humorous message to Martin St-Louis and Alex Burrows, related to his solid performance in the shootout:
Xhekaj, on his shootout deke:
«I'm pretty confident in my shootouts. I always tell Burrows that he's gotta put me in but we got a lot of good shooters so.» - Arber Xhekaj today
And on his hardest shot performance:
[Anthony Martineau] asked Xhekaj if the next step was to beat Chara's record.
Smiling, he replied:
"Yes, that's the goal! I didn't even know I was so close to him. He has quite the shot. I knew I could beat 100 mph, but not by that much."
- Via Anthony Martineau, TVA Sports
We love it! The challenge is on!
It will be interesting to see if Martin St-Louis will send him, or not, in a shootout one day. He notably did it with Michael Pezzetta.
To be continued, but really a great day!
