Unfortunately, the trade discussion involving Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj continues to spark conversations around the NHL.

It's even getting serious, as well-known insiders (who don't cover the Montreal Canadiens) are now following the story.

This includes TSN's Darren Dreger.

You're familiar with the situation: Xhekaj has been relegated to the role of the 7th defenseman in Montreal and is spending a lot of time in the press box.

Just last night, for instance, while he was scratched against the Washington Capitals, Georges Laraque went on a rant, saying that if The Sheriff isn't playing against the Caps, they might as well trade him right now.

Will Arber Xhekaj be traded to get more playing time elsewhere?

Check out what Dreger had to say on the matter this morning on TSN radio.

« "If Kent Hughes ever decided to put Arber Xhekaj on the trade block, there'd be double-digit teams interested in Arber Xhekaj."

Dreger also went on to say "The style of his game when he keeps it in check, he can be a very influential and very impactful player, I think the Canadiens believe that's part of their future as well."

This will definitely be a story to watch, but it's clear that if Kent Hughes is eventually forced to trade Arber Xhekaj, he will get a substantial return.

I love him as a player, but if it's better for him to play elsewhere, for a team that will fully utilize him and give him every chance to thrive, then so be it.

And if it were your decision, what would you do with Arber Xhekaj?

In any case, he's in high demand in the NHL, as confirmed by Darren Dreger this morning.
