Most experts expected a fully Quebecois duel between Marc-André Fleury and Samuel Montembeault tomorrow, but that won't be the case.
For Martin St-Louis to turn his back on Samuel Montembeault on a Saturday night at the Bell Centre (against the Devils), and then again on a Thursday night at the Bell Centre (against the Wild), something must be going on here.
We are possibly witnessing a shift in roles in goal for the Montreal Canadiens, and that's just fine.
In truth, I simply believe that the Canadiens should go with the goalie who wins their games, regardless of which one.
It's surprising to see that the Habs did not "buy" the beautiful storyline of the 100% Quebecois duel between Fleury and Montembeault, for Fleury's last career game in Montreal, but at the same time, young Dobes fully deserves this start.
See the official confirmation.
Do you like this decision?
At 23 years old, 6 feet 4 inches tall and 215 pounds, Dobes has a record of 5-0-1 this season, with a goals-against average of 1.93 and a save percentage of 0.933.
He is likely to be without the services of his excellent defenseman Kaiden Guhle tomorrow, but it must be said that on the visitors' side, the Minnesota Wild will be without their star forward Kirill Kaprizov.
Details to follow.
