Cayden Primeau will have to wait again and again, as it is Samuel Montembeault who will be back in net for his team tonight against the Washington Capitals.
This is absolutely the right decision, by the way, but it clearly shows that the Canadiens' management no longer has any confidence in Primeau.
Why keep him with the big team, in that case?
Since his disastrous start against the Buffalo Sabres a month ago (on November 11), Primeau has played just three games..
Three games in a month, and if we go back to October 31, we're talking about four games for Cayden Primeau.. in total!
It's hard to imagine the Canadiens enduring this situation until the end of the season.
In October, Primeau had a goals-against average of 4.38 and a save percentage of 0.861.
In November, Primeau had a goals-against average of 4.34 and a save percentage of 0.780.
In December, Primeau has a goals-against average of 5.05 and a save percentage of 0.828.
I'm sorry, but this is unacceptable and it's hurting the Canadiens right now if they truly want to be in the mix.
Please also note that, as we reported earlier today, Kaiden Guhle will be back in the lineup while Justin Barron is expected to return to his seat in the stands at the Bell Centre.
Details to follow.
And if it were your decision, what would you do with Cayden Primeau?
Do you believe it is really time to bring in another goalie with the Montreal Canadiens?
