We were waiting for an update regarding defenseman David Savard, and we have just received one from the Montreal Canadiens.

As we reported yesterday, Savard suddenly left his team's most recent practice (in Chicago) , which sparked numerous reactions.

Some thought he was injured, while others believed it might be related to a potential trade. So, we were waiting for official news from the organization to clarify the situation.

Well, we have just received that update.

The Canadiens announce that David Savard is a questionable case

Here is the statement in question:

David Savard will be a gametime decision tonight in Chicago. If he cannot play, Jayden Struble will enter the lineup in his place.

Montreal Canadiens

This confirms that he is dealing with an issue, but fortunately, it doesn't appear to be too serious.

There is still a chance he will play tonight in Chicago.

Don't be surprised if the Canadiens exercise a bit more caution with Savard tonight, especially considering that Struble is fresh, ready to play, and in need of ice time. Additionally, Montreal is back in action tomorrow against the Colorado Avalanche.

Stay tuned for updates in the coming hours and ahead of tonight's game against Connor Bedard's team.
