The Montreal Canadiens have just updated their roster following the injury suffered by forward Patrik Laine.

We are still awaiting an official announcement regarding the exact length of his absence, but unsurprisingly, Laine will indeed have to sit out.

Patrik Laine placed on the injured list

He is currently listed among the injured players, along with David Reinbacher, and goaltenders Carey Price and Quentin Miller.

«The new Canadiens training camp roster shows Guhle among the healthy players, while Laine, Reinbacher, Miller, and Price are listed among the injured.»

- Eric Engels

Even though the injuries to Patrik Laine and David Reinbacher are getting all the attention, let's also mention today's good news: Kaiden Guhle is officially back among the healthy players.

«Good news: Kaiden Guhle is practicing today with the team but in a non-contact jersey.

Bad (but obvious) news: Laine and Reinbacher are now on the injured list distributed at Habs practice.»

- Habs Chronicle

This may fly under the radar due to the Laine situation, but it's still a very positive sign ahead of the season opener.

Returning to Patrik Laine, we continue to send him lots of positive energy and hope for a pleasant surprise.

It will also be interesting to see who will line up alongside Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook this morning on Martin St-Louis's second line for the Montreal Canadiens.

Names like Joshua Roy and Oliver Kapanen are ones to watch.

More details to follow.
