He was even named AHL Goaltender of the Month for January, and he certainly earned it.
His time in the AHL has clearly benefited him.
After a tough start in the NHL, where he posted a 2-3-1 record with a 4.70 goals-against average and a .836 save percentage, he could have given up.
However, he arrived in Laval with an exemplary attitude and got to work.
The Rocket were struggling in December, but since Primeau's return, the team has dominated the North Division.
Yet, Primeau himself says there are still aspects of his game he needs to improve. He has 11 wins in 13 games since being sent down, which is very impressive!
In fact, he won his first 10 contests! Wow!
His coach, however, has no doubts:
With Samuel Montembeault and Jakub Dobes already in place in Montreal, Kent Hughes will have to make a decision.
Does Primeau deserve another chance with the big club?
Do you think he will eventually be called up by the Montreal Canadiens?
If not, do you see him getting another opportunity elsewhere in the NHL?
In any case, he is doing everything possible right now to send a clear message to Kent Hughes and the 31 other general managers in the National Hockey League.
One could say he is the best goaltender in the American Hockey League, which is no small feat.
