It's obvious that Montreal will always be a special place for Monahan, who has really been able to revive his career here, especially thanks to Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
Now that the CH leaders have clearly stated they want to add a top-6 forward this summer, and with Martin Necas's name constantly coming up in town, why not simply bring back the excellent Monahan?
Monahan, who is probably as good as Necas, will be visibly free as the air in less than a month. (just like Sam Reinhart, Jake Guentzel, Steven Stamkos, and Elias Lindholm, among others)
If we go back to the 29-year-old forward, who just started the season under Martin St-Louis, the renowned Chris Johnston has just revealed the price to pay to sign him as a free agent.
As for the targeted salary, according to the TSN journalist, Monahan would be asking for a salary of around $5.25 million per year for the next three seasons.
Would you do it? Would you sign Sean Monahan for 3 years and a total of $15.75 million?
A salary of $5.25 million per year, with the salary cap increasing, could really be interesting for Kent Hughes. A case to follow.
Monahan, 29 years old, 6 feet 2 inches, and 202 pounds, scored 60 points this season with the Canadiens and the Jets. His impact in Montreal was huge when he was healthy.
