It just escalated live on TV between two analysts and Caufield was at the center of an intense debate
It's rare to see this, especially in such an intense manner, but things got heated earlier in the evening on TVA Sports between Jean-Charles Lajoie and Tony Marinaro.
A simple conversation about the progression (or lack thereof) of Montreal Canadiens players this season quickly went off the rails.
It made for good TV, at least!
Have the Montreal Canadiens players progressed or regressed this season compared to last season?
This question sparked a huge debate on Tuesday during the debate between Jean-Charles Lajoie and Tony Marinaro.
"Why do players not want to come to Montreal?" Marinaro fired back at Lajoie, who was then criticizing Caufield's offensive progression. "It's because of guys like you [JiC] and the French media. You're always sh***ing on the players!"

This gives an idea of the conversation between the two experts, but see the full debate by clicking below.
It really ignited when talking about Cole Caufield.
Tony Marinaro believes that Caufield has progressed as a player because he's more complete and a better hockey player in general.
Jean-Charles Lajoie, on the other hand, believes that Caufield hasn't progressed much as a player because he's not scoring more goals. (since he's paid to score, according to him)
To say the least, they really didn't see eye to eye regarding Caufield and a few other players.
And you, which side are you on?
