In an interview on TVA Sports last night, young Montreal Canadiens goalie Jakub Dobes made an interesting statement.
A few minutes after his exceptional game against the Colorado Avalanche, Dobes was interviewed on TVA Sports, and it turned out to be a great television moment.
But that's not all.
During the interview, Dobes also gave a fascinating answer to one of the interviewers' questions.
Jakub Dobes admits he draws inspiration from Carey Price.. and MacKenzie Blackwood
You read that right.
The young Dobes mentioned that he draws a lot of inspiration from Carey Price, trying to model his mental strength after the legendary number 31, but also takes significant inspiration from Colorado Avalanche goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood.
We love it!
Blackwood was, in fact, his opponent in Colorado last night, the goalie he had just defeated.
Habs Jakub Dobes tells TVA Sports he watches video of Avalanche goalie Mackenzie Blackwood - his rival at the other end of the ice tonight - as well as trying to model his mental game after Canadiens goalie Carey Price.
- Priyanta Emrith It should be noted that Dobes, standing 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 215 pounds, has a very similar build to Blackwood, who is 6 feet 4 inches and 225 pounds.
Blackwood, aged 28, has a save percentage of .911 this season with the San Jose Sharks and .935 with the Colorado Avalanche (1.78 GAA and a 6-1-1 record).
He recently signed a nice contract worth $5.25 million per year, valid until 2030.
Will the student surpass the master?
