He has indeed been sent to the Laval Rocket, in the American Hockey League, but for conditioning purposes only.
This is a short-term reassignment, and he will have to return to Montreal within a few games.
Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton are buying some time, but they will eventually need to make a decision on this matter.
The good news is that this will finally allow him to play a few games, as he has been constantly sent to the stands by Martin St-Louis for the past few weeks, but he will have little time to prove himself.

It is therefore important to highlight that this is a conditioning assignment for Struble.
Jayden Struble, 23 years old, is a left-handed defenseman who is 6 feet tall and weighs 207 pounds.
He was a second-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2019 (46th overall), and he has accumulated 15 points in 82 career games in the NHL, in addition to serving 92 penalty minutes.
This will certainly be high-quality reinforcement for Laval's team under Pascal Vincent, even though it will be short-term reinforcement.
Details to follow.
If it were your decision, what would you do with Struble?
Would you try to send him through NHL waivers and hope he is not claimed, as was the case with Cayden Primeau, or would you rather keep him with the Canadiens as the seventh defenseman?
It obviously depends on his trade value.
