The Montreal Canadiens' Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations, Jeff Gorton, has just been questioned about Patrik Laine's injury.

In an interview with Pierre McGuire and Jimmy Murphy, Gorton mentioned that the organization will need to run several tests and consult various professionals before making an official announcement regarding Patrik Laine, as well as the young David Reinbacher.

Jimmy Murphy:

"Still no clear update, right, on either one (Patrik Laine and David Reinbacher)?"

Jeff Gorton:

"No, no. You know, these kinds of things always... you have more than one opinion. We're going to ask for reports. Hopefully, in the next few days, we'll have some information. It's a little early to say what's going on. We will take all the time we need. We'll direct these guys to the right doctors, and then we'll have something."

So, stay tuned, but it's wise of the Habs to take their time to do things right, even if everyone is eager for answers.

What does this mean for this season?

Probably not much, but it mostly indicates that the Canadiens want to make the best possible decisions moving forward and ensure these two young players can return to full strength.

Earlier today, journalist Stu Cowan revealed a possible 4-6 month absence for Patrik Laine, though nothing has been confirmed by the team yet:

Further details to follow.
