Juraj Slafkovsky is dealing with back discomfort, and the Montreal Canadiens have made their decision
According to journalist Nicolas Cloutier of TVA Sports, the young Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky is experiencing some back discomfort.
It's certainly not ideal, and it's definitely a bit concerning, but it's not too serious either.
This also explains the decision made by the Montreal Canadiens regarding Slafkovsky's participation in the Olympic qualifiers.
The Canadiens have decided not to let Juraj Slafkovsky represent Slovakia, as a precaution
This is significant information revealed by Nicolas Cloutier.
I'm told that Juraj Slafkovsky won't represent Slovakia in the Olympic qualifiers as a precaution. Nothing too serious, but Juraj is experiencing some slight back discomfort.
Decision made in collaboration with the Canadiens.
The Canadiens' decision is final.
Therefore, David Reinbacher will participate in the Olympic qualifying tournament (for Austria), but Juraj Slafkovsky will not.
Olympic Qualification: Slafkovsky cannot represent his country.
We can better understand the decision made by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens' management, especially just weeks before the start of the 2024-2025 NHL season. I absolutely believe it was a wise decision not to send him there (even though Slafkovsky really wanted to go).
The Olympic hockey qualifiers begin on August 29. Last July, Juraj Slafkovsky said:
"I am ready to represent my country, but this decision is not mine. The Canadiens' management will decide!"
And they have ultimately decided to be cautious with their young first 2022 overall pick..
