Justin Barron Stuns by Turning Down Major Opportunity: His Priorities are Clear
As you know, last Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday, the Montreal Canadiens hosted the St-Louis Blues live from the Bell Centre.
It was a game to forget for Jake Allen and Martin St-Louis's men, but it was also a memorable day for Samuel Montembeault.
Montembeault received a nice gift from the Blues' GM
Obviously, as part of the Blues' visit, their general manager Doug Armstrong was in town.
Armstrong is the GM of St-Louis, but he was also the general manager of Team Canada. He took the opportunity of his visit to give this to the Canadiens' goaltender:
However, Montembeault was not the only representative of the Canadiens with Team Canada last spring.
There was also defenseman Justin Barron.
Why wasn't he there, you ask? See the relevant passage:
"[Barron] is currently not in the NHL: he is down. And at the time of the Blues' visit, Barron was in Toronto with the Rocket.
That being said, it is important to mention that the Canadiens gave Barron the chance to come back to Montreal for Sunday's game to be there in person to receive his championship ring.
And as Arpon Basu (The Athletic) tells us, the main interested party said no." - Via DLC.com
Wow... The information is found in the following text:
Barron thus refused the offer from the Canadiens to come back to town on Sunday.
It's a decision by Barron that has drawn the attention of several journalists.
We agree that it's far from being the end of the world, but it helps us learn a little more about the priorities of the young defenseman.
It would have been easy for the CH to allow Barron to be in town, since he could simply have followed Joshua Roy, who also had to make the trip.
