According to TVA Sports, Hughes just left for Boston for what they're calling an intriguing trip.
With young Michael Hage's absolutely incredible start to the season, could Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton plan to sign him this season and bring him to Montreal for the end of the 2024-2025 season?
It certainly seems like a possibility.
We obviously need to be cautious, but it truly seems like this young player could be something special.
All signs point to Hage bypassing the American Hockey League, and his arrival in Montreal already seems highly anticipated.
Hage, who's in his first year with the University of Michigan Wolverines in the NCAA, will be playing tonight against Boston University.
Kent Hughes will also have the chance to observe other high-level prospects currently at BU and Michigan.
While Renaud Lavoie couldn't specify the exact reason for Hughes' visit to Boston, he seems convinced there will be a meeting with young Hage, who may decide to sign with the Canadiens sooner than expected.
This will be a situation to watch, but clearly, Kent Hughes is proactive in trying to make things happen.
Hage, an 18-year-old forward standing at 6'1" and 190 pounds, was selected 21st overall (first round) in 2024 by the Montreal Canadiens.
This season, he has eight points in seven games, including four goals, with the Wolverines in the NCAA.
His name is certainly one to remember and keep a close eye on.
