Kent Hughes reveals what it would take for him to trade his 5th overall pick
During an interview with Pierre LeBrun, Canadiens' General Manager Kent Hughes announced what it would take for a trade involving his first pick.
Although Montreal does not intend to trade down its draft position for now (its 5th overall pick), Hughes has nevertheless prepared a scenario for such a situation.
«Hughes did not wish to go into details, but a likely scenario where Montreal would consider trading down in the draft would be if several forwards are selected before the 5th pick.» - Via Samuel Doiron
This comes from Pierre LeBrun's article, who had the opportunity to speak with Kent Hughes.
Kent Hughes Reveals What It Would Take for Him to Trade His Fifth Overall Pick
It is understood that the only reason the Canadiens would trade their 5th pick is if «several forwards are selected before the 5th pick.»
Clearly, this confirms once again that Montreal aims to draft a forward at the start of the 2024 draft.
Kent Hughes will therefore hope that names like Cayden Lindstrom or Ivan Demidov are available at his pick. Tij Iginla has been mentioned less frequently lately, but he is also obviously a name to watch.
Details will follow.
