In a press conference in the last few minutes, the General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, announced an addition to the conditions of the trade concluded with the New Jersey Devils involving Jake Allen.

An additional and new condition in the Jake Allen trade

Via insiders like Elliotte Friedman and Darren Dreger, we learned that the 3rd round pick acquired in exchange for Jake Allen would become a 2nd round pick, if Allen plays 40 games with his new team.

Kent Hughes announced a clarification and an addition to the conditions.

«Jake Allen has to play 40 games (next year) and the Devils have to make the playoffs next year for the conditional third-round pick to become a second-round pick next year.» - Renaud Lavoie, TVA Sports

So, we will have to keep an eye on this next year! Imagine if the CH manages to get a second-round pick in 2025 in the end! It would be incredible, but let's wait and see.

Allen, 33 years old, thus finishes his journey with the Montreal Canadiens with a record of 6-12-3 this season, a goals against average per game of 3.65, and a save percentage of .892.

We wish him the best of luck in New Jersey!

This means that after 63 games this season, we can finally say that the goaltending trio is over! Cayden Primeau and Samuel Montembeault will have all the room and will play more.

The Devils were on Jake Allen no trade list. He waived it to make the trade happen.

Classy move by Allen!
