In a press conference in recent hours, Martin St-Louis gave some strong hints.

He wants to avoid injuries in tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators, and it seems he's putting his words into action.

As reported by Sportsnet journalist Eric Engels, several of the Canadiens' top players will be sidelined tonight.

Martin St-Louis Rests His Key Players

While the Sens seem to be fielding a tough lineup to face the Habs, here's what Engels just reported.

«A group of Habs players who practiced this morning will likely not play tonight.

Among them are the Habs' first line, Kirby Dach, Lane Hutson, Mike Matheson, Jayden Struble, and David Savard

Sam Montembeault is expected to be the starting goalie, however. We'll discuss with head coach Martin St-Louis at 11:15 am for confirmation...»

Do you think it's the right decision?

When he mentions the first line, he's obviously referring to Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Juraj Slafkovsky.

Therefore, we're likely to see several young players take on major roles tonight, and Christian Dvorak might end up being the first-line center.

I'm particularly excited to see Oliver Kapanen back in action, as he's truly fighting for a spot in the Canadiens' regular lineup to start the 2024-2025 season, against all odds.

Additionally, Arber Xhekaj and Logan Mailloux will need to have strong performances if they want a chance to overtake Jayden Struble and Justin Barron, ahead of next Wednesday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

And you, which player will you be watching more closely tonight?

More details to follow.
