The Laval Rocket had only 11 healthy forwards and 6 defensemen, not counting potential call-ups to the Montreal Canadiens, so reinforcements were brought in.
First, a contract was awarded to forward Logan Nijhoff.
Additionally, Pascal Vincent's squad recalled Quebec defenseman Vincent Sévigny from the Trois-Rivières Lions, a well-deserved opportunity for him!
These are golden opportunities for these two players, and they have real roster spots to fight for, especially if the Canadiens eventually call up Owen Beck and Logan Mailloux.
We mentioned the injuries in Laval, and indeed, forwards Vincent Arseneau, Laurent Dauphin, Brandon Gignac, Xavier Simoneau, and Luke Tuch are all sidelined, as well as defensemen Joshua Jacobs and Gustav Lindstrom.
Logan Mailloux did not play on Sunday, but his return to action seems imminent.
Logan Nijhoff, 23 years old, is a forward who has recorded 34 points in 43 games this season in Trois-Rivières and has 50 games of AHL experience.
In the WHL, he tallied 49 points in 57 games with the Regina Pats.
Vincent Sévigny, also 23 years old, is a left-handed defenseman from Quebec who has recorded 17 points in 43 games this season in Trois-Rivières and has 86 games of AHL experience.
In the QMJHL, he registered 36 points in 37 games, as well as 28 points in 25 games, with the Saint John Sea Dogs and the Victoriaville Tigres.
More details to follow.
