Patrik Laine confirms major detail of his trade to the Montreal Canadiens: they were not on his no-trade list
During a press conference, Montreal Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes made an announcement regarding Patrik Laine.
Laine did not waive his no-trade clause to join the Habs.
This means that the Canadiens were not on his no-trade list, which is excellent news and speaks volumes about his interest in playing here.
Unfortunately, Montreal (like many Canadian teams) is often on the no-trade lists of the NHL's top players.
That was not the case with Patrik Laine.
He just earned a lot of points! Montreal has never been on his no-trade list.
Patrik Laine is very happy to come and play for the Montreal Canadiens
This information comes directly from Kent Hughes.
To quote Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager Don Waddell, we want players who want to play here, and clearly, Patrik Laine wants to play here, in Montreal!

Moving forward, Kent Hughes mentioned that he simply wants to see Laine help the Canadiens' cause and help the Canadiens achieve their goals.
He will not be evaluated on the 20 or 40 goals he scores next season; he will be evaluated on his efforts and contribution to the team's success.
Details to follow.
