First, the good news of the day!
Patrik Laine hit the ice at the Bell Centre with his teammates a few hours before tonight's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
He stayed with the team for the full "morning skate" just hours before today's matchup.
Clearly, he's getting closer to a return to play, and it seems to be only a matter of days for the big Finnish winger.
This is truly encouraging.
Also, regarding today's developments with the Canadiens, please note that goalie Samuel Montembeault will once again be back in net for the team.
He will face a tough challenge against the Vegas Golden Knights, going up against players like Jack Eichel, Shea Theodore, and company.
Do you think Martin St-Louis' squad can upset the Golden Knights tonight?
Montembeault, 28, has a record of 6-8-1 this season with a 2.85 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage.
In his career, he has a 55-68-22 record with a 3.34 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage.
Clearly, he has the trust of his head coach right now and is well ahead of Cayden Primeau in the pecking order.
More details to come.
Please also note that Martin St-Louis will stick with the same line combinations for tonight's game. The first line will feature Kirby Dach, Nick Suzuki, and Juraj Slafkovsky, while Jake Evans will center the Habs' second line.
Enjoy the game!
