As we reported a few weeks ago, the defenseman recently acquired in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers, Noel Hoefenmayer, has displaced Mailloux in Laval.
He has taken some of his 5-on-5 minutes, and most importantly, he pushed him out of the Rocket's first power-play unit.
This temporarily returned the role to Logan Mailloux.
However, we have just learned that Hoefenmayer will indeed be returning to Laval as reinforcement, reclaiming his position since Canada has been eliminated from the Spengler Cup.
This will be solid reinforcement for the Montreal Canadiens' farm team and head coach Pascal Vincent.
He still had a good tournament.
It will now be up to the young Mailloux to reclaim his spot.
Hoefenmayer, 25 years old, is a 6-foot-1, 204-pound defenseman with 1 point in 3 games this season with the Laval Rocket. Before that, he had amassed 7 points in 11 games with the Oilers' farm team.
He was recently acquired by Kent Hughes via trade.
Mailloux, 21 years old, is a young 6-foot-3, 213-pound defenseman. He has 15 points in 25 games this season with the Laval Rocket, as well as three points in five games with the Canadiens.
It has been much more difficult for him recently:
3 points in 18 games: It has been very difficult for Logan Mailloux recently.
Let's hope things turn around for the very talented and promising Mailloux.
